| This is probably the last update of the year 2004, so it's time to look back a bit. This year has been really great for Spirit Disease, and we'd like to thank you, our fans, for all these great things that have happened to us. Thank you! It's been really great: the first edition of Redemption Denied is pretty much sold out now, we have played a few gigs, gotten some really good reviews and all that. Thanks to you guys. What about the year 2005? Well, we're still in the middle of writing new shit for our next CD. If things go according to our plans we will start making some preproduction demos of the new songs during the spring, and once that's done we will head to the good old D-Studio to record the full length CD that at least some of you guys have been waiting for. We're planning to record 12 songs this time. No extremely short "songs" this time, unless we do something like Horse (The Return) or stuff like that. At the moment the CD has (at least) two working titles: Annihilation and Architects Of Aggression. We will have to discuss about the final title of the CD some time next year too... and it will probably change. Ha ha! We will keep on playing gigs next year too, and at the moment it seems that there might be some rather big shows coming up. We'll let you know about those ones later once they're confirmed. Advertisement time: If you want to buy our T-shirts, you should visit the Vortex Motions Records website. There's not much of them left, so hurry up if you want one. |

| Showtimes for our Thursday night's gig at Stella Star Club, Helsinki: 22.00 Spirit Disease 23.00 Machete 00.00 Rapture |
| Hell yeah! A great gig yesterday at Vuoritalo. Thanks to Anthares for organizing the gig & especially big thanks to the audience! Gig report & photos coming sometime next week. The next Spirit Disease gig is on 16 December at Stella Star Club, Helsinki. Be there or be a wanker. |
Get your asses to today's gig at Vuoritalo, Helsinki. Loads of good metal and hardcore bands & all that shit. You should probably get there at around 19.00 to be absolutely sure that you actually get to see us. You see, even we don't know about our showtime. Haha. There's some personal shit going on with some of the members in some of the other bands, so the showtimes might change. Originally we were supposed to be the third band to play our shit on stage, but now... who knows? Anyway, you will find the latest info on this site. I will make another news update if I get some more information. I just had to add this picture. How fucking stupid some people can be? All of us in SD have been listening to Pantera a lot in the past and it feels really insane that the true mastermind behind the band is now dead. We wish all the best to Darrell's family and friends. |
| It's the Independence Day here in Finland, and I thought that this could be the right time to bring some new features into this site, like the new navigation bar & bits and pieces pretty much everywhere. Check them out. Less than a week to go until the next Spirit Disease gig. More details about that coming later. |
| As some of you probably already knew, we are busy writing new songs for the next Spirit Disease CD. Three songtitles were revealed in late August, and here's two more. The first one is probably the fastest song of SD ever, and the second one is the slowest one ever. We've got plenty of surprises coming up on the next CD for you. A bit more variety, but still with all the brutality of Redemption Denied. We do actually have more than five new songs, but they're not complete versions with titles & lyrics & all that shit. |
| A review of Redemption Denied was released by Noise.fi. The CD got 3/5. |
| Last weekend's gig at Lappeenranta was great! Sure, we could have played a bit better & there could have been more people watching us, Dauntless & Twilight Guardians, but who cares? We had fun and hopefully the audience had fun too. More info about that gig with photos & shit coming up later this week to the GIGS-section of this site. It seems that our gig in Kouvola in January will be fucking enormous! I mean, with Rotten Sound headlining, the night can't be shit, right? |
| Yet another great review of Redemption Denied. It got 4/5 from Tuhma... I'm actually beginning to think that we must have done something right while recording those songs, ha ha... SD's debut gig on 13 November in Iltatähti, Lappeenranta is approaching - here's the latest info about it for you: Showtimes: 22.00 Twilight Guardians 23.00 Dauntless 00.00 Spirit Disease Yes, for some weird reason we are headlining the gig. Don't know why, though - the other 2 bands are really good too. Anyway, prepare to fucking mosh 'til death!!! |
| A really great review at Sonos Metallicos.net. The CD got 4½/5. Sallanen's interview on the radio (YleX) tonight sometime between 7pm and 9pm, listen to it if you feel like doing so. |
| Yesterday's radio show went really well. We will be on the radio again on 31 October - this time it's not a local radio station, but the nationwide YleX and their legendary (at least in Finland, that is..) metal show Metalliliitto. Here's the playlist from yesterday's "Spirit Disease special" (ha ha!): 1. Kreator - Betrayer 2. Spirit Disease - Redemption Denied 3. Slayer - Jesus Saves 4. Voïvod - Ravenous Medicine 5. Immortal - Sons Of Northern Darkness 6. Spirit Disease - Sadistic Belated Abortion 7. Celtic Frost - Circle Of The Tyrants 8. Jumalation - Evil Spirits Really big thanks to Bilibaldus & Lähiradio for giving us this opportunity! Two new good reviews! Redemption Denied got 8½/10 from Imperiumi and it also got a really fucking great review on Hellion Records (Germany) website. Both of them can now be read from the reviews section of this site. You don't know where it is???!!! Well, in that case... try to find it from the Discography section! |
| Spirit Disease on the radio tomorrow. The station's called Lähiradio 100.3 MHz and we're appearing in their metal program 'Meteliä maan alta' at 20.00. Too bad that it can only be heard in the Helsinki area. We will be interviewed and we will be playing some of our fave music too. So expect some Celtic Frost from the radio tomorrow! The entire show might be available for download from this site later on - got to check out all the copyright shit before uploading the thing here though. |
| Another excellent review released, this time by Hamara magazine. Redemption Denied got 4/5. |
| Imperiumi.net's Spirit Disease interview (in Finnish) can now be read by clicking HERE. Tomorrow is a big day for all of us - it's the release date of Redemption Denied! |
| First Spirit Disease gig ever has now been booked. Check out the GIGS-section of this site. More gigs coming up later. Hell yeah! Redemption Denied was reviewed in Inferno Magazine and it got 9/10! That's just simply fucking amazing. More good reviews are coming up, or so we've been told. All the reviews will be added to the site later. |
Here's some news that probably have little or no meaning to non-Finnish people: Spirit Disease was recently interviewed by Inferno Magazine. You can read the interview from Inferno #21 (to be released 8 October 2004).SD have also been interviewed by Imperiumi, don't know when the interview is coming out, though. More shit: SD drummer Mattila recently helped out a band called Dilemma in their recording sessions. They're some sort of rock stuff with Finnish lyrics. |
| The release date of Redemption Denied is now confirmed. It will be available on 15 October 2004. If you don't feel like waiting for so long, send your orders to our record label now. The CD will be distributed in Finland by Firebox. Other distributors will be announced shortly. |
| All right! Finally! The release date for Redemption Denied will be revealed shortly. The CD's are being manufactured at the moment and they can already be preordered from our record label. Click here to visit their site and be among the first to get the CD! |
| It's been a while since the last update. Sorry about that. The correct release date of Redemption Denied is still unknown to us and the label. This delay is not a good thing, but we can't really help it. It's not the label's fault, either. The exact details of this shit may be revealed later. Onto other things, then. We have been working really hard with new songs for our next CD and they are absofuckinglutely great, much heavier and faster than before. The two guitar line-up has opened up so many new possibilities for us and it feels really great. At the moment it seems that our next CD will wipe its ass with Redemption Denied, ha ha... here's some of the song titles for ya: Yeah, one of the songs has lyrics in Finnish. We just had to do that. If you don't like the idea, you can just fuck off and die. But don't you worry, the rest of the stuff will be in English as usual. Unless we decide to do something in some other language. Xim Esrepnarouh part 2 or something in Latin or ancient Greek or some pseudosatanic crap straight from the Necronomicon... ;) |
| New mp3 clips from our forthcoming Redemption Denied MCD are now available from the files-section of this site. Check them out! |
| OK, boys & girls & ladies & gentlemen & small furry animals, here it comes: VORTEX MOTIONS Records signs SPIRIT DISEASE. VMR have signed Finnish death/thrash band SPIRIT DISEASE. The deal is for upcoming Redemption Denied MCD and it contains option for SPIRIT DISEASE's upcoming full-length album. SPIRIT DISEASE was formed in September 2002 but all its' members have over a decade of experience in metal music. Redemption Denied MCD will feature 6 original songs and cover of DEATH's classic Evil Dead. The exact release date will be announced later. |
| Spirit Disease has signed a recording contract with a Finnish label - stay tuned for more information about the label and the release date of Redemption Denied. |
| Spirit Disease is now a band with five members. The newest addition to our line-up is mister Riikonen. Like the rest of us, he's a very experienced musician and unlike some of us, he's actually talented... ha ha! Click the link to get to know more about the bastard with a 7-string guitar. |
| I just noticed this myself - there's a one minute long sample of our song The Extinction Of Subhuman Kind available for download HERE. The D-Studio guys managed to surprise me with this one, but who the fuck cares? They're great guys and it's a really great studio! |
| Some of you might have already noticed that there's a photo of us with a 5 man line-up somewhere in the Photos-part of this site. Yes, it's true that we have been practising for a month or so with this blonde guitar playing guy called Riikonen. He's still not a "full member" of Spirit Disease, but he most likely will become one in the near future. |
| A huge pile of promo packages was sent to record labels a week ago, so pretty soon we should know if there are even more interested labels... Onto other things then. A bunch of photos were added to this site today, so check them out. |
| A review of Demonstration Of Penetration is online now (in Finnish only, sorry). Click HERE to read it. The guy seriously seemed to like our stuff. Weird, isn't it? |
| All right! Bye bye XRS.NET. Welcome to our new domain. Sorry about that weird screaming sound effect... ;) |
| Within a few days this website will be moving to WWW.SPIRITDISEASE.NET. Get ready. |
| In near future the URL of Spirit Disease website will change. We have bought our own domain with lots more space & all the usual crap so we'll be able to have a bit more informative site. Maybe. All the shit found here (and probably some more) will be available in another URL within a week or so. |
| Thanks guys... the response we've gotten for Sadistic Belated Abortion has been really good and I must say that we're really happy about it. Onto other things then. On 24th of March a compilation CD called Demonstration Of Penetration was released by Violent Journey Records and we're on it too with Sadistic Belated Abortion. It's a really good compilation featuring 25 Finnish underground metal bands. Try to find it somewhere - it really is good! |
| Ladies & gentlemen - the wait is over! One song from our forthcoming Mini-CD Redemption Denied is now available for download from this site. Download it now and don't forget to tell your opinions about it to us. |
| We got ourselves a second guitar player. At the moment he's not a full member of the band, but he will be rehearsing with us from now on and he'll also be helping us out with gigs and shit like that. |
| Back home from the studio. Great fun was had by us all (except for Taskula - he's in Israel right now for some reason) recording our debut piece of shit. On Friday drums & bass were recorded and Saturday was spent on recording all the guitars. The sessions went very smoothly and apart from the vocals & the mixing everything is ready. The sound is absolutely lethal, if you know what I mean... pure old school death metal! The rest of the stuff will be recorded between 16th and 19th of March. |
| The logo was changed (it was designed by our former lead singer Laukkanen) and the site was completely rebuilt. Now everything is ready for the forthcoming release of SD mini-CD. Apart from the rather horrifying task of actually recording it, that is... ;) |
| It's getting quite hard to wait for the studio shit to begin! Seriously! We had to change the dates a bit because of some scheduling crap, so the recordings will start on the 5th of March. We have several days booked for the recordings, but if everything goes according to plan, we should have that pathetic slab of plastic recorded, mixed and mastered by the 19th of March. The compilation CD that I mentioned in the last update will be released in May 2004 by Violent Journey Records and will feature lots of great music and some crap by Spirit Disease too... |
| Less than a month to go before the recordings start. Everything is already well rehearsed, so we can't really wait. It's almost certain that the results of the sessions will be released as a mini-CD by a small Finnish metal label. That's nice. One of the songs will also appear on a compilation CD of Finnish Underground Metal bands. Yeah! Things seem to be going quite well for SD. For now. The light that we see at the end of the tunnel is probably just the lights of an approaching freight train. ;) |
| The recordings will start in early March at D-Studio. We still have a lot of rehearsing and songwriting to do before that... |
| No. We haven't recorded anything. There's some serious problems with that shit. Fuck that. Possible tracklisting of our forthcoming recording here (it will probably change): The song from the 80´s which I mentioned earlier will be a song by the band Death. I won't tell you which song we'll record, though... :) |
| We have not yet started the recordings. We will record 5 original songs + one legendary song from the 80's really soon. |
| Things are going really well & the new line-up sounds fucking excellent. We should start recording new shit within a month or so. No more fucked-up sounding rehearsal demos! |
| The first rehearsal with Taskula last night was just simply excellent. Things are getting VERY brutal sounding indeed! Can't wait to get to studio/on stage with this guy! |
| A change in the line-up! The new singer of Spirit Disease is Jarno Taskula (also known from EVEMASTER). It's an honour to have one of the BEST metal screamers of Finland in the band. Welcome! Rehearsals with Taskula (as he will be known from now on) will start in August. Be prepared! |
| The feedback we've gotten for the rehearsal demo so far has been surprisingly positive. We're thinking of recording a new rehearsal demo this summer and if we do so, the stuff will be available for everyone to download from this website. |
| The Spirit Disease website was opened today. It's definitely not ready and under construction and all that shit, but some information about the noisy bastards can now be found here. Bits and pieces will be added constantly, and if there's anything new to know about SD, you can find it here. The site looks kinda shitty now and we know it. Things should get better soon. |
