19 November 2007
Life is constant change and things just don't always go the way one expects. That is so true. I'm sorry to announce that mister Toivonen has decided to leave Spirit Disease. We would like to thank him for all his hard work with us and wish him all the best in the future.

I guess I should update this fucking site again or something... we've been working with new stuff a long time but we're still not even nearly ready to go to studio to record the next album. That's the truth. I suppose that will happen in late spring/early summer 2008 if everything goes well. In the meantime I can give you some of the new song titles.

  • The Cult Of Bastard Child
  • The Choice Of The Insane
  • Keep The Hate
  • One Bullet For You
  • Bloody Nightmare

That's not all of the stuff we have... this time we're thinking about writing about 14 songs for the album but how many of those will actually appear on the album remains to be seen.

After an excellent gig in Helsinki we're getting ready for the next one in Tampere next Thursday. Exact schedule is still unknown, but I suppose the first band will be on stage at around 10-10.30 pm. Or something like that. The Zombi will play first and then we make some horrible noise for you guys. Get to the club early anyway. The doors open at 9 pm.

As most of you probably already knew, we have a gig tomorrow at Kantis, Helsinki. This will be the comeback of mister Toivonen and his first gig with us since November 2006.

Don't know about the exact showtimes, but Swath will play first. I think they'll start sometime between 10 pm and 10.30 pm. So get your asses to Kantis before 10 pm.

There will be some SD merchandise available at Kantis so be sure to bring some cash with you if you want to buy CD's or our new T-shirts. Or buy lots of beer. It's up to you.

Long time no see. Or something. Anyway, we have a few gigs coming up, so check out the GIGS section of this site. On those gigs we're planning to play a few new songs and even some stuff from Redemption Denied EP that hasn't been played live ever by this lineup, so that should be great fun for us and perhaps even for YOU. Of course we will play all the best songs from Annihilation, so you will actually get to hear even some familiar stuff.

We've got a batch of brand new T-shirts getting made at the moment, so some new merchandise will be available pretty soon. We'll sell the stuff on gigs & perhaps you'll be able to order it from our label too. More info about that shit once we actually get the T-shirts.

Here's some new live shit by us for you. It's not a complete gig, only a few songs... not much audience and definitely not one of our best gigs but who gives a shit anyway? It's kinda funny and all that crap and we don't really have that many live videos available anyway. So here it is whether you like it or not:

Spirit Disease @ Nightlife Rock, Helsinki, Finland 13 April 2007

    1. Ultimate Sacrifice
    2. Delusions Of Grandeur
    3. What's God Got To Do With It?
    4. Covered In Warm Blood
    5. Drum Solo (!)
    6. Wish You Were Dead
    7. Tools Of The Trade (Carcass cover)
    8. Pissaa ja paskaa (Terveet Kädet cover)

What else? Well, not much. Still trying to work with new songs.

It's been almost a month since the last update so I guess that I should write a little bit about what's been going on here at Camp SD. So here we go: Toivonen has recovered from his injury so Tuomikanto is no longer bashing the shit out of his drum kit with us. We would like to thank him for helping us out in a shitty situation. THANK YOU. Actually he's now 'available' since his old band Causemos split up recently, so if you happen to need an excellent drummer who's able to play just about anything that you can come up with musically, just get in touch with him.

At the moment we are concentrating on writing and rehearsing some new shit for the next Spirit Disease album and things seem to be going quite well. We are progressing slowly, so don't expect to get a new SD album until 2008 unless we manage to speed up the process somehow. But we are absolutely not going to hurry with this one, since our goal is definitely to make a better album than Annihilation. Not that there's anything seriously wrong with it, but I know that we can make a heavier and more varied album than that one. Don't know what that really means, but experimenting with more different tempos should do the trick - not just blastbeats or doomy shit but something mid-tempo too. Anyway, it's definitely still too early to know where we're heading. In a few months we'll know a little bit more. Let's just give the album a working title: Retaliation. ;)

Tuberculosis is getting ready for the recording sessions of the second album of his other band Witheria. That should keep him busy for most of June, so we won't be playing any gigs for a while. But that's a good thing because it gives the rest of us more time to work with new SD shit. Anyway, when we start playing live again there probably will be some new songs in our set list.

Since I've written shit about just about everyone I should probably write some meaningless crap about the rest of us... Riikonen and Koskinen are coming up with some really mean and brutal riffs & songs and so are (surprise!) Toivonen and Tuberculosis! I've been making some new music too, so expect the SD sound to expand a bit - more songwriters means more variety I guess, but whose stuff will end up on the next album remains to be seen. Only the best stuff will be used.

We have two gigs this week - here's the schedule for both of them:

    26.04.2007 Semifinal, Helsinki
    22.00 Spirit Disease
    23.00 Noumena

    Gig flyer

    27.04.2007 S-Osis, Turku
    22.00 Spirit Disease
    23.00 Ablaze In Hatred
    00.00 Noumena

    Gig flyer

Other news: Mister Toivonen is fine. On Saturday we rehearsed together for the first time since last December and to our (and his?) surprise he already sounded really fucking good so we expect him to return to being fulltime SD drummer ASAP. Anyway, mister Tuomikanto will play at least this week's gigs with us.
    13 April 2007
Unless you're one of those sorry superstitious fucks who's really scared because it's Friday the 13th, perhaps you could come to Nightlife in Helsinki tonight to watch SD play live. The showtimes for tonight:

    21.00 Spirit Disease
    22.00 Domination Black

Be there or be a wanker.

Toivonen's getting better all the time and he's started to play drums a bit already. We expect him to return to play with us in May. Before that we still have a few gigs to play with Tuomikanto on drums.

We're getting modern or shit like that since you can now buy Annihilation legally as a bunch of mp3's from Levyvirasto/Record Office. And it's not very expensive either. Just click HERE to do so. You can also buy the CD from there. Click on the following links for more info about where (among other places) you can buy our music:

Mister Tuomikanto is back in action, so things are going quite well, thanks. Also mister Toivonen is getting better all the time so that's good news too, I guess. Anyway, Tuomikanto will still be playing with us for quite a while and the date of Toivonen's return is still unknown.

We have finally started to plan the next album but it's still too early to say much about it yet. Yes, we do have a working title for it and a few (unrehearsed) songs too. More about that stuff later this year.

I was bored a few weeks ago so I spent a few minutes making a crappy music video for us. It's a joke, really, but in case you feel like watching it, click HERE.

Spirit Disease drummers are injury prone. It's a sort of a tradition already. Continuing the tradition this time is mister Tuomikanto. He fucked up his wrist and he's out of action for two weeks. Nothing serious, though. His live debut with us last Saturday went well with not too many problems - and anyway there's no problems that a few shots of Jägermeister won't solve.

Savepoint Heavy Metal Collection Vol. 1 is out now and SD is on that one with What's God Got To Do With It?. This 2 CD compilation can now be ordered for free (in Finland). Just click on the link.

What else? Well, our new (temporary) drummer Tuomikanto has turned out to be a really excellent replacement for Toivonen so there's really nothing to complain about. We're ready to play live already I think. We've got two confirmed gigs so far but there's more coming up. Check the gigs from HERE. In the meantime, Toivonen's knee has been healing well and he's much better already. Get well soon!
